curaJOY is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing emotional wellness within families by integrating behavioral health care, education, and technology. Their mission is to provide accessible, inclusive, and practical support for families navigating emotional and behavioral challenges, particularly in underserved communities. At the heart of curaJOY’s work is MyCuraJOY, a multilingual digital platform that offers personalized, AI-powered social-emotional learning and behavioral coaching. Using interactive avatars and conversational agents, the platform helps children and families build emotional intelligence, resilience, and stronger family dynamics through culturally inclusive, real-life scenarios. At curaJOY, I lead the UX/UI design team for the website redesign and work closely with developers to ensure a smooth and efficient design-to-development handoff—drawing on my front-end coding experience to bridge gaps between functionality and visual design. I also collaborated with one of curaJOY’s key sponsors, AWS, and worked directly with an AWS Solutions Architect to design a user-friendly AI interface. This project focused on simplifying how AI functionality is presented to users with little to no experience with machine learning products, significantly improving usability and accessibility. As is often the case in startups, my responsibilities extend beyond design. I actively contribute to the marketing and communications teams, led our 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign, and support curaJOY’s digital marketing efforts to grow visibility and deepen community engagement.
